Just ahead of the forthcoming Los Angeles Auto Show, the Japanese automaker revealed its future absolute headliner, the redesigned 2019 Infiniti QX50. The fabulous crossover will debut with an innovative VC-Turbo variable compression engine and sit on an entirely new front-wheel-drive platform. Offering more interior space than earlier models, the mid-size SUV places a premium on a revolutionary powertrain breakthrough.
An engine that transforms on demand sounds like a dream, but Infiniti seems to make dreams come true – the 2.0-liter 268-hp VC-Turbo engine is claimed to be the first production-ready engine in the world. It means the lucky driver gets the full power of a 2.0-liter gasoline engine mated to the torque and efficiency of a four-cylinder diesel one via a continuously variable transmission. Double combo, and take my money! Getting a new platform, the crossover hits 60mph in a flash, actually in 6.2 seconds, and goes hell-blent for leather with a top speed rated at 143mph. Put some artistic exterior redesign, ProPilot Assist smart technologies and extra cabin space to what you already seen, and wrap it up! Let’s see the pricing, anyway, after its debut at the LA Auto Show.
